Canada

The full name of the country is: "A Self-Governing Federal State and a Member of the British Commonwealth of Nations". Located on the continent of North America (its northern part, except Alaska) it is the second-largest country in the world. It has a lot of large and small islands (Baffin Island, Newfoundland, Prime Edward Is­land and others). It has an area of nearly ten million square kilo­metres. Its western coast is wa­shed by the Pacific Ocean and its easten coast by the Atlantic Ocean.

It enjoys Arctic, Subarctic and Moderate climate with win­ter temperature up to —35 °C (January) and summer tempera­ture +21 °C (July). It has several climatic regions. Winter in Canada lasts from four to five months with heavy snowfalls. There is much rain in the east and west, but less in the centre.

Its territory is mostly plains and plateaus with The Rocky Mountains stretching from the North to the South in the West. There are many rivers in Canada, the longest rivers are the McCanzie and the St. Lawrence. Canada also has a great number of lakes: Lake Superior, Huron, Winnipeg and others. The most famous by its beauty is Ontario.

Canada is reach in natural resources. You can find here deposits of ore, coal, oil, gas and timber. The leading industries are: machine-building, ship-building, wood processing, food industry? especially dairy products, cereal crops and others.
